Description
FISC Norfolk Detachment Philadelphia intends to solicit on a full and open competition basis for HIPPA compliance Specialists to support the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to ensure the Bureau?s compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Standards. A total of five Compliance Specialists will be required to provide expert advice on a wide variety of HIPPA related Privacy and Security Topics, and to support US Navy efforts to be in compliance with the final HIPAA Security rule effective 21 April 05. Two compliance specialists will be located at BUMED Headquarters in Washington, DC. One compliance specialist will each be located at NAVMEDCEN Portsmouth, VA, NAVMEDCEN San Diego, and NAVMEDCEN Jacksonville. The required LOE for each compliance specialist will consist of 40 hours per week starting 9 February 05 through 30 September 05, and may include one option period. The compliance specialist will apply project management methodologies to organize HIPPA implementation and compliance, plan activities, to initiate, and facilitate ways to foster HIPPA awareness, conduct risk assessment of policies relating to HIPPA, provide training on HIPAA compliance issues and develop procedures to instruct BUMED staff on the importance of HIPPA rules and regulations. It is anticipated that the submittal of a technical proposal will be required and it is also anticipated that a firm fixed price service contract will be the result of this acquisition effort. The period of performance under subject requirement will consist of a eight month base period starting 8 February 05 through 30 September with the chance of one additional option year.
