- The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential business sources possessing the expertise, capabilities and experience necessary to meet the agency's requirement for a vessel tracking system. The system will track the current operationally Ready Reserve Force (RRF) vessels, and continue to track so long as they remain operational. We are looking for a system that will not require additional hardware or software to be installed on the RRF vessels or on MARAD Headquarters computers. The desired vessel tracking system can be securely accessed through the Internet, and track the vessel using existing INMARSAT C satellite terminals on board the vessel. Current meteorological conditions (including wind, speed, wave height and barometric pressure) should also be available. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government will not reimburse any contractor for any costs incurred as a result of participation in this survey. In addition, participation in this survey does not guarantee that your company will be able to participate in the resulting solicitation. The information provided will aid MARAD in the development of the acquisition strategy for this requirement, and will aid in the determination of any set asides.
