Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source purchase order to L-3 Communications. The purchase order will be for twelve-month maintenance service on 16 units of X-Ray equipment. The X-Ray units are manufactured by L-3 Communications, and they are located in several different CDC facilities in and around Atlanta, Georgia. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR part 6.302-1, in that L-3 Communications is the only known source that can provide the full range of maintenance and repair service in a three-hour response time. As critical as the proper repair and maintenance service is the requirement for the Contractor to respond and provide on-site repair service, including installation of necessary replacement parts, within a three-hour response window. L-3 Communications is the only known source who can meet those requirements under this proposed procurement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the necessary service, in addition to meeting the response time requirement, are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 10 days from the publication date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
