Description
The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, in support of Naval Special Warfare, is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. NSWC Crane is seeking sources that produce cordless power tool accessories and/or sources that produce DC-DC converters. Specifically, the government is interested in a product or system that can directly interface with a Dewalt 24V Battery Pack (#DW0242) and through appropriate electrical and physical interfaces be used to replace various other battery packs of varying voltage and physical configuration. All interested sources are encouraged to submit company and product literature, references and any other pertinent information for the Government's evaluation. Include business status (e.g., small business, small disadvantaged business, HUBZone, women-owned, etc.). The cordless power tool universal battery system must meet or exceed the following requirements: (1)use Dewalt 24V Batte! ry Pack (#DW0242) as power input source (2)physically/electrically interface and power Dewalt 24V cordless power tools, Dewalt 18V cordless power tools, Dewalt 12V cordless power tools, Makita 9.6V power tools, and RotoZip Cordless Spiral Saw (#SCS02) (3)user selectable operating voltage (4)overall system weight 5lbs. or less (5)volume occupied by system 6 in.3 (6)65% "worst case" conversion efficiency (7)capability of handling nominal as well as peak current demands (8)capability of handling over-current condition without damage to itself, battery pack or power tool being used. (9)reliable, durable, and portable. (*NOTE: Companies with new technologies closely matching these criteria may also submit product literature.) Firms having access to demonstrated research and prototyping capabilities are invited to submit literature, not exceeding three pages of text, that describes the general approach, previous related work, and an estimate of overall costs (rough order of magni! tude). Testing at the component level to demonstrate design acceptability must be identified. If a production capability is determined to be suitable, a small quantity of prototype units may be procured for testing to evaluate the suitability of this device for the Government's needs. At the current time, NO FUNDING IS AVAILABLE for contractual efforts. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse companies or entities that submit literature in response to this announcement. Nothing in this announcement constitutes an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government. The Government is only seeking possible sources for future needs, if they arise.
