Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Amerex Industries, Kennesaw, Georgia under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Soliciting from a Single Source, to rebag Train 2 and conduct a leakage test on Train 1 of the Large Fire Laboratory Flue Gas Cleaning System that was built by Amerex Industries. The Flue Gas Cleaning System is a complex industrial grade system capable of removing 95,000 cubic feet of combustion by products per minute. The system was custom designed and built by Amerex Industries for NIST and is one of a kind. The system uses proprietary software and hardware. Therefore, based on the aforementioned reasons, Amerex Industries is the only source who can complete this requirement. A fixed price purchase order will be issued on or about April 23, 2004. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement, in writing, no later than the response date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation nor is it a request for competition. See Numbered Note 26.
