- As NASA nears the end of fiscal year 2004, we are well underway with preparations to close our accounting system and issue financial statements. A crucial component in the closing process is to ensure we have recorded all business activities in the applicable accounting period. As such, we are sending this notice to our contractors to seek your assistance in this closing effort. First, we want to make you aware that the final payment schedule for FY 2004 will be issued on September 24, 2004. Our year-end schedule includes a ?shutdown? period until October 15th. All approved payments due and payable through October 15 will be included in the September 24 payment schedule. We will make every effort to ensure all proper invoices are paid no later than the September 24th cutoff date. Those invoices not received and approved by September 23, may not be paid until after October 15, 2004. Your assistance in submitting proper invoices in a timely manner will streamline any necessary approvals and help ensure payment is issued before the shutdown period begins. Please be advised that after September 24th, we will be unable to process any payments until October 15th. Secondly, submission of the Contractor Financial Management Report (NASA Form 533M) is also a critical activity in our closing process. To facilitate the fiscal year-end closing process, we are attempting to assemble our contractor cost data early so we can complete our September month-end cost accruals by Thursday, September 23rd. You can assist us by submitting your August NF 533 ? which includes August actuals and September estimates ? no later than Friday, September 17th, if your report is not currently required before that date. To ensure that your 533 is received timely, you can send it to the following e-mail address: NF533@LARC.NASA.GOV. We appreciate your assistance in making our year-end closing process as smooth as possible. We look forward to a successful close to FY 2004 and start of FY 2005.
