- Description
- DESCRIPTION: The Social Security Administration intends to negotiate solely with EMC Corporation, 8444 WESTPARK DRIVE, SUITE 700, MCLEAN, VA 22102 under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, ?Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements?, to purchase additional EMC TIME FINDER software and installation services for backup/recovery and data replication as specified below. The software eliminates the need to complete backups of critical data within the off-hours backup window, and allows the Paperless Servers to create hardware-based complete copies of the Paperless data. The software for backup/recovery and data replication is vendor specific, and represents additional purchases of software already in use at the Agency. SSA currently has EMC TimeFinder Software deployed on EMC Storage Subsystems for EMC Online Disk Storage. This is the only product available that can take advantage of the Microcode deployed with the EMC Storage Subsystem. EMC has no authorized resellers of this product, or installation services. The anticipated Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) description, and quantity are as follows: CLIN 0001: TimeFinder Software License including 12 months maintenance, QTY: 4 (four); CLIN 0002 TimeFinder OnSite Installation Services, QTY: 1 (one). EMC is the only authorized dealer of this software and services known to the Government. The Government intends to purchase both TimeFinder and Install Services from the same vendor. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill this requirement. A solicitation is NOT available. Therefore, written and/or verbal requests for copies of a solicitation related to this announcement will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
