- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Comcast Cablevision, Baltimore, MD (Comcast) for expansion of cable service connections and one (1) year of maintenance on the cable system serving SSA?s Headquarters and surrounding buildings in Baltimore, MD 21235. The current cable system includes SSA?s community antenna television (CATV) port distribution system and insertion modulators on SSA?s interactive video tele-training (IVT) and other private channels. The CATV will be expanded from 790 to1200 ports that will be used to keep SSA personnel informed on critical news and designed programming productions. Comcast is the only known source with authority and expertise to provide the required cable service expansion and cable system maintenance in the Baltimore MD-Baltimore County-area. Any other vendor claiming to have requisite authority and expertise to provide the cable service expansion or to maintain SSA?s cable system must submit verifiable information that supports such assertion (e.g., an official registration as a cable service provider in Baltimore, MD and customer contact information). Responses to this announcement must be received within ten (10) days after this publication date and should refer to synopsis number 04-8187. The Government will not pay for or return information submitted in response to this announcement. Rather, the information will be used to determine if there is a viable alternative to Comcast.
