Description
The US Army Research Development and Engineering Command, Armament Research,Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), Picatinny, New Jersey is conducting a market survey to identify sources that are capable of supplying Parachute Assemblies for the 60mm M721, 81mm M853A1 and 120mm M930 Illuminating Mortar Cartridges (see parachute assembly descriptions below). Contractors should have experience in efforts of similar complexity and magnitude. Interested firms with capability of providing 60mm, 81mm and 120mm Parachute Assemblies should provide, at no cost to the government, a summary of their firm?s past experience, capabilities, size of business (small or large business), description of facilities, equipment and personnel to meet these requirements, and any other areas of expertise that may enable them to undertake efforts of similar complexity and magnitude. Sources should identify the time required for the start up operations including manufacturing of samples for first article inspections, maximum annual production capacity (such as 100,000, 200,000 or 300,000 total annual production capacity) based upon a typical production percentage of 15/40/45 for the 60mm, 81mm and 120mm parachute assemblies, respectively. Also, the details about the number of production lines, number of shifts planned, monthly production rate per line, total monthly production rates for all the lines combined etc shall be provided. Parachute Assembly Descriptions: The 60mm parachute is a single panel octagonal nylon parachute with a diameter of 28 3/8 inches. The parachute is manufactured with 8 para-aramid suspension lines. The parachute is supplied packed in a cotton duck deployment bag, with a 9 inch square drogue chute. The 81mm parachute is a single panel round nylon parachute with a diameter of 43 inches. The parachute is manufactured with 10 para-aramid suspension lines. The parachute is supplied packed in a cotton duck deployment bag. The 120mm parachute is an octagonal nylon parachute comprised of 8 panels with a total diameter of 51 inches. The parachute is manufactured with 8 nylon suspension lines. The parachute is supplied packed in a cotton duck deployment bag, with a 9 inch square drogue chute, and a braided aramid riser cable inside a fiberglass sleeve.The market survey is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government will utilize the information provided for planning purposes only. All information submitted will be provided at no cost to the government and will be held in a confidential status. The contractor shall provide all information requested in this notification within fifteen days of this publication by electronic mail to thomas.peter@us.army.mil
