Description
The Broadcasting Board of Governors/International Broadcasting Bureau (BBG/IBB), Office of Contracts, Simplified Acquisition Branch (M/CON/SA) intends to negotiate and award a Purchase Order (Contract) on a non-competitive basis with Communications & Power Industries, Inc. (CPI), 2045 Route 35 South, Suite 101, South Amboy, NJ 08879, for the repair and upgrade of CPI, HPA. ?The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition applicable to this procurement is FAR Subpart 6.302-1, 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1), which permits other than full and open competition ?When the supplies or services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source and FAR Subpart 6.302-1(b)(4), 41 USC 253(c)(1); which permits other than full and open competition ?When the agency head has determined in accordance with the agency?s standardization program that only specified makes and models of technical equipment and parts will satisfy the agency?s needs for additional units or replacement items, and only one source is available.? The equipment being repaired/upgraded is a part of the Agency?s approved standardization program for use in the Agency?s telecommunications Satellite Interconnect System (SIS). This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive price quotations. Interested firms or persons, may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. The Government must receive all such statements of interest and capability by close of business 4 PM EST, Tuesday, August 31, 2004 and shall reference RFQ No. CON-04-0030 to be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order (contract) based upon responses to this Notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any information received from interested firms/persons responding to this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
