Description
The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) has developed a small-scale, pressure let down liquefaction system for use with natural gas pipelines. This novel system has the features of being low cost, scalable, and flexible in relation to different gas compositions it can liquefy. The pressure let down liquefaction process includes proprietary technology for removing CO2 and other pipeline gas contaminants. INEEL is presently seeking interest from qualified industrial firms to undertake a new research and development project that will focus on the design and fabrication of a small-scale prototype system capable of liquefying and/or using 100% of the gas feed stream produced from stranded gas wells, coal bed methane production, landfills or renewable biogas. A system will be designed to optimize energy energy and to cost effectively remove undesirable constituents such as CO2, Water and H2S. The phase-gate project will also identify the minimum requirements to meet the needs of stranded gas applications and would make incorporate existing technologies and components, where possible to reduce development costs. The three-year development project will culminate with deployment and demonstration of a prototype system. The INEEL is soliciting interest from qualified industrial firms interested in participating in this project. It is anticipated that the project will be carried out through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with funding and ?in-kind? support being provided by the participant(s). Interested parties should respond on or before 9/30/2004.
