- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for 1 each of a Stratasys, Inc., 3 dimensional modeler that produces pieces and parts with ABS plastic. It must automatically import and handle .stl files to generate the necessary tool paths and support structure. A complete list of equipment specifications is attached. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the item from Fisher/Unitech, Inc. located in Brecksville, OH 44141. Fisher/Unitech, Inc. is the only company authorized to sell and service the Dimensional Modeler in the state of Ohio. The technical requirements for this equipment is that the equipment purchased must have the same environmental impact as an office printer. The lab space requires that any equipment used possess no special health/safety requirements. There are other systems available that can produce similiar parts, however they require either laser safe rooms, special ventilation for the fumes, special power requirements or a larger footprint then available. Therefore Fisher/Unitech, Inc., is the only company that can provide the equipment that meet the Govenment's needs. Delivery is required within 30 days from the date of the order. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 8/18/04. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
