Description

The National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, is soliciting proposals for a book survey of the Frederick Douglass Library collection. The collection includes original books, booklets, magazines, and pamphlets. The work will be divided into two phases. Phase I is the book survey of the Frederick Douglass Library collection, and Phase II will be the subsequent treatment of the Frederick Douglass Library collection. Phase I includes examining the 2,748 books, booklets, magazines and pamphlets from the personal library of the Frederick Douglass collection and preparing a brief summary report including conservation priorities for the entire collection. Work also includes preparing individual condition reports with treatment proposals, and associated cost estimates for each book, booklet, magazine and pamphlet in the collection. The collection is located at the National Park Service, Museum Resource Center in Landover, Maryland. All documentation and subsequent treatments shall conform to the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. Based upon the availability of funds in FY 2005, conservation priority, condition reports, treatment proposals and cost estimates, a separate contract will be awarded for Phase II for the treatment of all or a portion of the books, booklets, magazines, and pamphlets in the collection. The Government anticipates award a firm-fixed-priced contract on or before September 24, 2004. The solicitation will be issued electronically on the Department of Interior's National Business Center (NBC) Website at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or around August 24, 2004. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be made available. NAICS CODE IS 712110, MUSEUMS, SIZE STANDARD OF $6.0 MILLION AVERAGE ANNUAL RECEIPTS FOR AN OFFEROR'S PRECEEDING THREE FISCAL YEARS.
