Description
Sources Sought. The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intend to acquire the following items for the Hollings Marine Laboratory (HML) in Charleston, SC: 1 each, DeCyder, Personal Computer (PC) and single user license, part number 18116305; 1 each Ettan Spot Picker, part number 18114528. The DeCyder software must be compatible with the Typhoon imager and allow detection of as little as 0.5 ng of protein per spot. The software must be able to image 2 samples, with an additional internal control sample for normalization between runs in a single slab gel. The ?front? and ?back? end of Amershams 2D gel system already exists at HML. To add the Decyder imaging software will ensure complete compatibility throughout the experimental run, will increase detections sensitivity and will reduce time and cost that otherwise would have to be invested to match the 2nd dimension to another standard. The Ettan Spot Picker must be compatible with the Amersham 2D-DIGE system and be able to pick spots of low concentration with high accuracy. The software must be capable of imaging 2 samples, with an additional internal control sample for normalization between runs in a single slab gel. HML currently has the instrumentation for the Amersham 2D gel system. To add the Ettan Spot Picker will ensure complete compatibility from sample extraction to protein sequence, and will reduce time and cost that otherwise would have had to be invested to match the separate steps to different standards. The intended acquisition is for supplies for which the Government intends to acquire from one source under the authority of 41 USC 235(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source. The only known source is Amersham Biosciences Corporation, Piscataway, NJ. Amersham is the only vendor that provides a software to read two experimental samples and a normalization control on the same gel using fluorescent labeling of the proteins, and that provides a protein spot picker that is compatible with the existing instrumentation at HML. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. The Government reserves the right to solicit bids based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or issue a contract to Amersham Biosciences Corporation, whichever is determined to be more advantageous to the Government, without further notice. Only firms that can provide the exact equipment described herein will be considered. This acquisition is being processed under the procedures of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. All interested parties must respond to this announcement within ten (10) calendar days of its publication. All responses must be in writing and may be faxed to (816) 426-5067, attention of Donita McCullough or William Becker. All firms doing business with this Acquisition office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR). For additional information and to register in CCR please access the following web site: http://www.ccr.gov/. In order to register with the CCR, firms must have a Dun & Bradstreet Number. A Dun & Bradstreet number may be acquired free of charge by contacting Dun & Bradstreet on-line at https://www.dnb.com/product/eupdate/requestOptions.html or by phone at (800) 333-0505. The NAICS is 334516.
