- Description
- NASA/ARC has a requirement for Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a repair of 0.75-inch Mark XX Task Balance S/N 6144-B. This balance is highly specialized piece of equipment used for measuring all size components of forces and moments on a wind tunnel model. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/ARC intends the services to be provided by Smiths Aerospace under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1), only one responsible source. They are the only source with experience and expertise in repairing and assembling this particular balance. Smiths Aerospace is the only known source that has drawings and specifications for this balance. The Government intends to acquire a commerical item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, August 19, 2004. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
