Description

Drager BG-4 self-contained apparatus (SCBA) Compatibility required with existing equipment. Negotiations to be conducted with CSE, 600 Seco Road Monoreville, PA 15146 on a sole-source basis. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. There are currently two models of 4-hour breathing apparatus that are approved and used by the mine rescue community. These are the Draeger BG-4 and the Biomarine Biopak 240-S. The Draeger BG-4 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is a direct replacement for the BG-174A The Draeger BG-4 has a means for making 12 important tests before a team member can use the apparatus, using an RZ-25 tester and test kit. These tests include: (1) low pressure warning test, (2) inhalation valve test, (3) exhalation valve test, (4) drain valve test, (5) leak test with positive pressure, (6) relief valve test, (7) high pressure leak test, (8) constant monitoring valve test, (9) minimum valve test, (10) bypass valve test, (11) low pressure warning test (cylinder valve closed), and (12) battery test.
