Description
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has a requirement for fuels management services to accomplish the following: Reduce fuels in the forests so that a wildfire would burn at lower intensity and would not generate the energy to loft firebrands onto historic structures. Reduce fuel loading and forest stand densities to the point that the residual stand would not support a crown fire. Reduce the potential wildfire intensity such that fire crews could safely combat a wildfire. Reduce fuels within 40 meters of flammable structures so that radiant heat from a wildfire would not ignite the structure. Create a defensible space around historic structures to provide for safety of firefighters. Retain the visual and recreational values of the ghost towns. Complete proposed treatments while protecting cultural resources, structures, and artifacts from damage or loss. This project is an initial 26 acre test area that will be used to determine the effectiveness of various techniques designed to reduce fuels while avoiding damage to cultural resources. This includes furnishing labor, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals to perform all work necessary to accomplish the required services. The period of performance will begin on or about September 30, 2004 and continue for approximately one year. This requirement is 100% set aside for small businesses under NAICS 115310. This solicitation will be available on or about August 3, 2004. A pre-proposal site tour will be held on August 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lower Parking Lot just off Highway 200 on the Garnet Range Road near Greenough. Offerors intending to attend the site visit tour shall contact Shelagh Fox or John Weinert (406) 329-3914 at least 48 hours before the scheduled site visit and advise them of the firm's name and number of persons that will attend. Potential offerors may obtain a copy of the solicitation at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. No hard copies of the solicitation will be provided. Contractors must be registered at http://www.ccr.gov to be considered eligible for award. Facsimile proposals will not be accepted.
