- Description
- The work under this contract involves furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for the removal of waste rock and tailings material from three abandoned mine sites to the Luttrell Repository. Work includes the following: installation of a temporary bridge and bridge overlay; construction and/or improvement of access roads; construction of a surface water diversion system; construction of an adit discharge infiltration basin and channel; excavation and haul of waste rock and tailings material; reconstruction of a stream channel; regrading and revegetating designated areas disturbed by construction; and, erosion control. Surface course and filter gravel shall be provided by the Contractor from commercial sources approved by the CO. Riprap and rock for use in road upgrades, the surface water diversion system, and infiltration basin are available from stockpiles at the Charter Oak Repository (near the intersection of FS Roads 227 and 227 B-1). Portions of the site and haul roads are located in steep mountainous areas. Portions of some haul roads will be narrow and steep. A temporary bridge to be installed across the Little Blackfoot River has a weight and speed limit restriction. Contractor shall select equipment based on these constraints. The work under this contract is located in the Elliston Mining District, on the western slope of the Continental Divide south of Highway 12 and the community of Elliston in Powell County, Montana. Mine sites are accessible by a 4-wheel drive road from the Little Blackfoot River Road (FS Road 227). Estimated price range: Between $500,000 and $1,000,000. A request for written proposals will be issued. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered. The solicitation will be posted to the FEDBIZOPPS website and will provide all necessary information for bidders to prepare and submit a proposal. A pre-proposal tour will be held on the 16th of August 2004, details will be in the solicitation. Anticipated award date is 21 September 2004. Construction is to be completed no later than 1 October 2005.
