- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, ALOSH, Morgantown, WV requires analysis services for cultural fungi analysis for its Division of Safety Research. This proposed contract action announces the Governments intent to issue a purchase order, on a sole-source basis in accordance with FAR 302-1(b)(1)(i), to Environmental Microbiological Laboratory, Daly City, CA. This purchase order is to conduct Phase II of the NORA study, Work Related Asthma in School and Office Buildings. Changing laboratories at this time could lead to compromise of the data due to inter-laboratory variation. Cultural fungi analyses are based solely on microscopic morphological identification of the spores or the colonies. Differences in laboratory protocols and procedures could lead to potentially significant differences in the fungal species identification and quantification; therefore, standardization of methodology is essential. This is not a request for competitive quotes, and no solicitation is available. Any source who believes they can provide the required services (or product) is entitled to submit a Capability Statement to the point-of-contact identified in this announcement. If any response(s) is received, a determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this action is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice is issued for informational purposes only. Any interested party may submit a capabilities statement to be received in the contracting office no later than fifteen (15) days from the date of this announcement. Submit information to Rebecca Mullenax, MS-1019, Reference: 000HCCA7-2004-10867, DHHS/PHS/CDC/NIOSH/ALOSH, 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505. The intent of this synopsis is to determine if any sources exist, therefore, no solicitation will be issued. If no responses are received within 15 days, award will be made to Environmental Microbiology Lab, Inc. Award will be made under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) without further notices being issued. All responses received shall be considered by the Government.
