Description
The contractor shall provide the historical expertise, personnel, materials, supervision, and facilities necessary to research, write and edit an unclassified historical manuscript tentatively entitled Battlefield Airmen, 1943-2003. The completed manuscript will be produced for the Office of Air Force History (AF/HO) and will be published by the Air Force History and Museums Program (AFHMP). This project shall result in a thoroughly researched, well-documented book-length manuscript covering the development, evolution, and employment of United States Air Force Combat Controllers (CCTs), Combat Weather Teams (CWTs) and Pararescuemen (PJs), their evolution into Special Tactics Teams (STTs), and their operations as a combat force, beginning with the WW II era through Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2003. The manuscript shall be organized chronologically and prepared at the SECRET level. The manuscript shall be produced and provided to the (AF/HO) in Washington, DC. The contractor shall organize and finalize the project archives for disposition in the special collection section of the Air Force Historical Research Agency, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. In this process the documentation collected shall be organized logically, subjectively, and chronologically and placed into manila files identified at the top for ease of reference. All copyrights of this manuscript will become Government property. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 711510 and the corresponding SIC code is 8999 with the size standard being $6.0 million. The period of performance is 3 years, 1 base period and 2 option years for a total of 36 months. Contractor shall adhere to timeline schedule as outlined in the Statement of Work. This is a competitive, best-value solicitation. This procurement is 100% SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES. This solicitation will be distributed solely on the World Wide Web at the following address beginning on or after 12 July 04: http://www.eps.gov. Closing date of the solicitation will be 20 to 30 calendar days after the issue date. NO PAPER COPIES OF THIS SOLICITATION WILL BE MAILED. No fax/telephone requests will be accepted.
