- Description
- The Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC), Directorate of Contracting, Edwards Air Force Base, California intends to award a purchase order to University of California-Irvine. This acquisition is for research in the area of designing and building a working prototype for a software re-configurable antenna system operating around X-Band, using Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) switches to provide frequency re-configurabilty. The project is for 6 months duration or less (follow-on funding may be available for additional research studies or future demonstration projects). It is anticipated that award will be in August 2004, with final report/demonstration and product due on approximately 31 January 2005. This action will result in an award to support the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E), Test and Evaluation/Science and Technology Field Support Program Office. University of California-Irvine is the only source identified for procurement of this research. This effort is a follow-on to earlier UCI research study in support of DoD methods for high spectral efficiency data communications applicable to the Test and Evaluation environment. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 541710 and the size standard is 1,000. All responsible sources may submit a response, which if timely received, will be considered by AFFTC.
