Description

This combined synopsis/solicitation is for masticating services to be performed for the maintenance and improvement of existing fuelbreaks to produce Defensible Fuel Profile Zones. A DFPZ is a strategically placed treatment from which flammable vegetation has been removed from the center of the DFPZ with more being retained at the edges to improve the ability of fire fighters to control fire behavior. Slopes within these project areas are highly variable and every effort will be made to maintain the Camino Cielo and Laguna DFPZs by working consecutive acres, however, there may be a need to move and/or relocate equipment and work based on: weather, road conditions, amount of vegetation that needs maintenance work, or other unforeseen events or circumstance. These projects are located on the Santa Barbara and Ojai Ranger Stations in the Los Padres National Forest. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation that will be offered. Any prospective contractor desiring the solicitation and description of work must do so in writing to Linda Ford, Procurement Assistant. Contractors must be registered with Central Contractors Registration (CCR) before an award can be made. Registration can be done online @http://www.ccr.gov. Quotations must be signed and include taxpayer ID and DUNS numbers. If you wish to bid, fill out blocks 12, 17, 21 & 23 and sign block 30 (a&b) of form #1449. Quotations should be bid by the acre. Government estimate is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. NAICS 115310 SBA size standard $6.0 million. Contract time will be approximately 6 months. Offers are due by 12:00 NOON, local time, JULY 30, 2004.
