Description
The U. S. Army TACOM-PICATINNY is contemplating the purchase of a high temperature tribometer that permits the assessment of the wear, friction and adhesion characteristics of bore coatings for evaluating protective coatings for the large caliber gun bore. A single micro-tribometer is required with two configurations of friction and wear tests. The pin-on-disk measurements on rotational drive and the pin-on-disk measurements on a linear drive shall be incorporated in one machine. An 800 deg. C micro-tribometer and wear testing system is required with the following components: (1) basic system with motorized positioning and thermal control, (1) complete testing software (Windows XP/2000 based) and Win operating system, (1) control block, 8-channel data acquisition, (1) monitor, keyboard, mouse, (1) Z vertical positioning and sliding motorized drive, (1) X lateral positioning and sliding motorized drive, (1) medium-load (50 kg/0.5 kN) linear reciprocating motion drive (0.25" at 20 Hz, 1" at 10 Hz), (1) medium torque rotational motion drive with specimen table, (1) basic encoder (linear resolution: 0.5 micron, range 100 mm), (1) dual friction/load sensor-model DFM-0.5, (1) dual friction/load sensor-model DFM-100, (1) 4" mounting extension block, (1) suspension for force sensor max. load 5 N, (1) suspension for force sensor max. load 1000N, (1) 800 C chamber for rotational drive, (1) chrome steel balls, dia. 0.5 (12.7 mm), hardness RC 63 (pkg of 50), (1) chrome steel balls, dia. 5/32 (4 mm), hardness RD 63 (pkg of 100), (1) tungsten carbide balls, dia. 5/32" (4 mm), hardness RA 92 (pkg of 5), (1) tungsten carbide, tip radius 0.4 mm, (1) holder for ball dia. 0.5" (12.7 mm), (1) holder for ball dia. 5/32" (4 mm), (1) holder for micro-cutting blade, no angular adjustments, instruction manual for software and hardware operation (hard copy and CD-ROM version), installation and training on operation for 2-3 employees.
