Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Soft Hard Systems Inc., 14540 Friar Street, Van Nuys, CA. , 91411, to purchase forty-five (45) each, PowerBox DX3.065332GB System. The system package shall include; SuperMicro X5DPA-G Mother board supply, 2x Pentium Xeon 3.06 CPU (533fsb), 2GB Registered ECC RAM, 1.44 Floppy Disk Drive, Onboard Intel GB NIC Controller, Onboard Atl Rage XL 8MB PCl Graphic Controller, with a trade in allowance on a Dual AthlonMP1600. The NHLBI, Computational Biophysics Section (CBS) of the Laboratory of Biophysical Chemistry (LBC) is involved with using computers and simulation software tools for carrying out both basic research problems and applied research projects often in collaboration with experimental scientists on problems of biomedical interest. Due to the malfunction of the existing system Dual AthlonMp1600, the government is upgrading the current system by replacing it with more advance units from the manufacture. This upgrade will allow increases in the computer power, which is essential to the tracking and computationally research tasks. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) applicable to this requirement is 334119, 1000 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the Government.
