The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Alaska Fisheries Science Center has a requirement for charter vessel to conduct four 2-day sampling trips beginning in late September30, 2004. . The aspect of Skate Nursery Investigation (SNI) is to monitor skate eggs over a year for development, hatching and timing of egg deposition. This involves trawl sampling a single area spanning a 10 month period at a rate of once every 50-60 days. Each 2 day charter will involve transit from Dutch Harbor to the designated sites. First charter date will start between September 30 and Oct 15, 2004. Each subsequent charter date is to start approximately 50-60 days from the end of the previous charter. The vessel must be available for four 2-day charters between September 2004 and April 2005. The vessel must tow an 83-112 bottom trawl net at 3 knots, travel up to 100 nautical miles in the Bering Sea during winter sea conditions. The vessel shall be able to house two scientists as well as minimal required crew and skipper overnight and must have adequate deck space for sampling table or checker bin and sample workup of trawl deck. The vessel must be equipped with crane capable of lifting approximately 5 mt of catch and must pass USCG safety inspection for fishing vessels as arranged by the government. This is a full and open procurement. All responsible, responsive offers will be considered. A request for quote providing detailed statement of work will be issued on or about July 8, 2004. To receive a copy of RFQ, send request by fax at (206) 526-6025. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $50, 000.00.
