- Description
- The Aileron and Stabilator Power Control Units (PCU’s) are Hawk common and are presently life limited to 6,000 flight hours. During the current life of the T-45 airframe (14,400 hours), at least two ship sets of replacement PCU's are required. Three ship sets are needed if the life of the airframe is extended to 21,600 flight hours, which is currently under evaluation. Life cycle cost savings are possible if the life of each PCU is extended. To establish an extended service life, additional fatigue qualification testing is required. The U.S. Navy intends to issue Delivery/Task Order against Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) N00019-02-G-3041 to procure T-45 fatigue qualification tests - the spectra for endurance cycling, pressure impulse, and vibration testing spectra - for extending the service life of each PCU.
