Description

The Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Network Business Center (NBC), Long Beach, CA, intends to issue an interim contract on a sole source basis to Cardinal Health Medical Products, 1430 Waukegan Rd., McGaw Park, IL 60085, for the period of July 1, 2004 thru December 31, 2004, with the Government’s option to extend the contract on a month to month basis for an additional six (6) months. The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and supervision, in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, to furnish Custom Sterile Surgical Packs to seventeen (17) DVA and DoD Government Healthcare facilities located within the general areas of VA Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22. Due to the quantity and complexity of packs, and production lead time required, delay in award would bring surgical procedures to a halt. It is therefore, necessary to place this interim contract with the incumbent contractor, Cardinal Health Medical Products, currently providing these items, pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (2), unusual and compelling urgency. It is further intended to issue a solicitation on a COMPETITIVE BASIS and award a long-term contract prior to the expiration of this interim contract.
