- Description
- Pre-Solicitation Notice – The Government intends to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the construction of additions and renovation to the Cereal Disease Laboratory located on University of Minnesota’s Saint Paul Campus, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Base Bid includes construction of approximately 6,900 square foot addition to an existing Laboratory Facility. The facility will house one (1) general laboratory space, a containment (BL-2) laboratory, a preparation room, a darkroom, and related office and support spaces. Minor renovation of some of the existing building is included. The project will include new parking areas, underground utilities and incidental related work. A small amount of asbestos abatement is required at the building tie-in. Optional Bid Item 1 includes construction of approximately 850 square foot new addition and relocation of an existing cold seed storage unit into the new addition. Optional Bid Item 2 includes the provision of a new seed storage cooler for the new addition associated with Option 1. Optional Bid Item 3 includes the provision of an Autoclave for room 108C and the Growth Chambers for Room 108. Optional Bid Item 4 includes the provision of the Autoclave and icemaker for room 104. Optional Bid Item 5 includes the provision of biosafety cabinets shown on the drawings. Optional Bid Item 6 includes the provision of the high density storage unit shown in the Conference Room. This requirement will be procured on an unrestrictive basis. All responsive and responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered. Sets of plans and specifications will be available for a non-refundable charge of $125 payable by check or money order to USDA, Agricultural Research Service, and submitted to the attention of Margaret Carter/Scott Sentz, USDA, ARS, AFM, FD, FCB, 5601 Sunnyside Ave., Mail Stop 5124, Beltsville, MD 20705-5124. The total estimated construction cost for this project, inclusive of all optional bid items, is between $2 Million and $3 Million. The time for completion for construction is 400 days after the notice to proceed with construction is issued. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about July 16, 2004. A pre-bid/site visit conference will be held on or about August 6, 2004. Bids are due at the above location and will be opened on or about 2:00 PM local time on August 27, 2004.
