Description
Work consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and supervision for the construction of, and materials to be incorporated in, the construction of a bat cupola and a concrete slab to cover 2 mine shafts on the Smith River National Recreation Area. Precast concrete slabs may be substituted for cast in place concrete slabs, with prior approval, provided that design features included in Government specifications and drawings are met. Contractor should carefully review all sections of the specifications in order to completely understand the work and all constraints including schedule, environmental and material requirements. Equipment use is limited to existing roads and previously disturbed areas. Areas to be avoided during construction activities will be identified by the Forest Service prior to beginning work. LOCATION: Project site is located on the Smith River National Recreation Area within the Six Rivers National Forest. From Crescent City take Highway 101 north approximately 15 miles to Smith River. At Smith River take county road 308 (Rowdy Creek Road) east approximately 9 miles to County road 305. Follow County road 305 approximately 2 miles to the first shaft. First shaft is located on the South side of the county road at mile jmarker 11.40. The second shaft is another 0.3 miles east on County road 305. The mine site will be approximately 100 yards north of the county road on an unnamed road in the northwest corner of Section 35, Township 18N, Range 1E. Work is estimated to start approximately July 29, 2004. Estimated solicitation issue date is June 29, 2004, with an estimated due date of July 19, 2004. The solicitation will be posted at this website for viewing and printing.
