- This FEDBIZOPPS announcement serves as a Request For Information pertaining to the above referenced number. The Fleet & Industrial Supply Center is soliciting for contractors interest in attending an informational meeting on 22 June 2004 regarding the feasibility of replacing crane hoist drum gear and pinion sets with modified gear-sets. The intent of the meeting is to provide an engineering feasibility discussion of the Government?s proposed gear replacement plan. The modification is being considered for two cranes currently located at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The Government wishes to determine the feasibility of procuring and installing replacement gear-sets that will have increased gear ratio from existing, allowing an increase of the main hoist hook capacity (60-tons to 85-tons). The replacement drum gear is desired to be a split (2-piece) design, to allow field installation without removal of the hoist assembly from the crane. Crane drawings depicting the existing gear-set installation and clearance envelope will be available at the meeting. Topics of discussion will include: Engineering feasibility of providing large ?split? design gears Fit and mounting configuration/requirements of the drum gear and pinion Clearance limitations for new gear-sets Feasibility of machining/truing of drum mounting surfaces in place, if requiredPlease be advised that this meeting is for information gathering only and attendance will be at contractor?s expense.Failure to attend or provide information at this meeting will not preclude any contractor from proposing on any subsequent solicitation.The meeting will be held at the Jackson Park Community Center (Chapel) on Tuesday 22 June 2004 at 10:00 AM.All interested parties must RSVP by 17 June 2004 to Josh Carter, FISC Contracting Specialist, via email at joshua.c.carter@navy.mil.
