Description
The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Service Center are seeking small business sources capable of providing information on a weapons cleaning solution. The NNSA service center is located in Albuquerque, NM. The weapons cleaning solution shall be capable of breaking down dirt, carbon, lead and/or copper residue from the interior of the barrel and other dirty surfaces of the weapons that will allow the user to remove those particles with minimal scraping or brushing. The solution must be safe when used in a room with minor ventilation. If the solution leaves residue it must not cause rust or a sluggish action of any moving parts. The solution will be used in electric part washing tanks and individual spray bottles. The preferred solution shall be environmentally friendly, legally disposable through non-hazardous and non-toxic waste venues. The solution should be able to be used without personal protection equipment such as rubber gloves or breathing filters. The product will be tested by firing 100 rounds of ammunition through an M-16 carbine. An evaluation will then be completed that will compare one product against another. This announcement is not a request for quotation (RFQ), but is provided as an invitation for expression for information. All interested parties are hereby, invited to submit a Statement of Capability (SOC) to demonstrate their capability to provide the solution described above. The SOC shall include the interested entity's complete mailing address, point of contact name, telephone number, and e-mail address, and this sources sought number (DE-SS52-04NA25480).
