- Notice of availability of a prospectus for solicitation of proposals for provision of visitor services at two locations within Death Valley National Park. These services include lodging, food and beverage service, retail sales, fuel sales, firewood sales and RV camping. Proposals are due Monday, September 20, 2004, no later than 4:00 p.m PDT. Death Valley National Park is located in southern California and western Nevada, approximately 60 miles west of the city of Pahrump Nevada. The heaviest visitation is during the fall, winter and spring months from October through April, but there is significant visitation in the summer months. The term of the contract is 10 years. The annual gross receipts for 2002 were $4,143,067. A concession improvement program is required in the amount of $615,000 and is to be completed in the first two years of operation. In accordance with 36 CFR Part 51, Subparts E and F, the existing concessioner is not a preferred offeror for the purpose of granting a preferential right to renewal of the existing contract because annual gross receipts are expected to be more than $500,000 in the first 12 months. The prospectus will explain the business opportunity and the term and conditions under which the National Park Service will award the concession contract. The cost for purchasing a prospectus is $75 by mail or $65 if picked up in person and will be available June 14, 2004. Parties interested in obtaining a prospectus should mail or bring in person a check or money order (NO CASH SALES) made payable to the National Park Service. A Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) is required on all checks. Prospectus copies can be obtained from the National Park Service, Pacific West Region, Office of Concession Program Management, 1111 Jackson Street, Suite 700, Oakland, California 94607. If purchased by mail, the front of the envelope should be marked ATTENTION: OFFICE OF CONCESSION PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - MAILROOM DO NOT OPEN". Inquiries on purchasing a prospectus may be directed to Ms. Darby Watson, Office of Concession Program Management at (510) 817-1365. An electronic copy of the prospectus is not available. A one-day site visit is scheduled for July 19, 2004. Instructions for attending are located in the prospectus.
