Description
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is conducting market research in preparation for the re-competition of contract 01-C-0334 with Verizon Wireless. This contract is scheduled to expire on 12/31/2005. The contract provides for wireless voice and data services in the Washington, DC national capital region for approximately 3,000 devices. [Please note that the contract does NOT include Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and services.] Services under the current contract are provided through the DOJ DMS-100 NORTEL class 5 switch which is connected to a mobile telephone switch office (MTSO) via ISDN PRI facilities. This infrastructure is utilized for least cost routing, five digit dialing between the DOJ land line and wireless phones using DOJ centrex numbers. The PRI facilities also provide integration to the DOJ Avaya voice mail system and DOJ wireless phones. The purpose of this market research is to learn more about current and emerging capabilities and business practices in the wireless industry. Vendors wishing to participate in this market research are requested to submit information addressing the following topics: new features/services; current and emerging technologies; best practices for reducing the overall cost of service; capability of reducing the number of wireless devices (cell phones, pagers, blackberries, PDAs) required by individual users; availability of Wireless Priority Service (WPS), security, national foot print, performance metrics related to quality of service and customer service, voice and data area coverage including in-building coverage; data speeds; consolidated billing; and, commercial pricing. Information should be submitted to Pamela Pilz at Pamela.F.Pilz@usdoj.gov or to Ms. Pilz?s attention at 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, NPB 1000, Washington, DC 20530. All information should be submitted by June 11, 2004. DOJ will use information received in response to this request for planning purposes only. This request for information is not to be construed as a commitment by DOJ to procure any items or services, nor for DOJ to pay for the information received. After reviewing responses, DOJ may request to meet with individual vendors to complete its research. The determination to conduct market research meetings with individual vendors and which vendors may be requested to participate in such meetings, is solely at the discretion of DOJ.
