- Description
- The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service-Region 7 (alaska) intends to award a sole source procurement to the Bering Sea Fishermen's Assoc to provide personnel to operate the Salcha River salmon counting tower. The Salcha River is home to the largest chinook salmon escapement in the Yukon River drainage. The Salcha chinook escapements represent roughly 10 per cent of the entire Yukon River spawning population. The Salcha tower data collection is one of the oldest and most complete escapement monitor programs in the Yukon River drainage. Tower Counts have been successful in 8 of the 9 years attempted and have been able to document the entire chinook run period in most years. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and the Government does not intend to accept proposals received. Award will be made 15 days after publication of this notice. See Numbered Note 22.
