- Description
- The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC) Picatinny Arsenal, NJ has a requirement to improve on the manufacturing process of the Amorphous Liquidmetal Kenetic Energy Penetrator (ALM-KEP)application developed as a result of the FY03 engineering effort, increasing both the bulk density and the size of the parts produced, better characterize the infiltration preform, baseline and monitor the mechanical properties of all aspects of the end-item deliverables, further optimize the proposed manufacturing process, demonstrate its capability of producing a repeatable product, and prepare to scale it up to produce a higher yield of completed parts in preparation of producing a pre-qualification lots of Medium Caliber Armor Piercing ballistic test cores.
