- Project involves securing services for mechanically masticating small diameter dead and dying conifer, hardwood, brush and other excess wood debri to creat a Modified Fuel Profile Zone (MFPZ) that will reduce fire hazard near the community of Jones Valley. The Forest Service is proposing to thin existing vegetation on National Forest land to reduce the threat of wildfire to communities, homeowners and infrastructure. Mastication shall consist of selecting leave trees and snags and masticating all other live and/or dead trees and brush standing on or on the ground, except for areas designated ty the Contracting Officer's Representative. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies and incidentals necessary to complete the contract tasks. LOCATION: Shasta Lake, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Shasta County, California. Project is located approximately 15 miles north east of Redding, California. PREBID TOUR: A prebid tour will be scheduled for this project. See Solicitation package when issued. CONTRACT TIME: 40 calendar days. Work is estimated to start approximately June 21, 2004. Solicitation estimated issue date is May 24, 2004. The solicitation will be posted at this website for viewing and printing.
