- DESCRIPTION: The Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is considering the acquisition and fielding of a Knights SR-25 weapons system. Its mission would require ammunition that will meet characteristics of the 7.62 M993AP and the M118LR rounds. We are soliciting ammunition manufacturers for interest in developing one round that will meet the characteristics of both the 7.62 M118LR and M993AP rounds. The round specifications are required to meet or exceed the ballistic trajectory curve and accuracy characteristics of the M118LR. The round specifications are required to equal the penetration capabilities of the M993AP. The overall size specifications are the dimensions of the M118LR. A US vendor is preferred to eliminate acquisition problems and import duties. Estimated ammunition procurement is 300,000 ? 500,000 rounds per annum. REQUESTED INFORMATION: Interested firms are asked to submit the attached Submittal Cover Sheet. Responses are due by June 11, 2004 and shall be electronically submitted to: Ms. Sandra M.
