Description
The US Army Natick Soldier Center, Soldier System Center (AMSRD-NSC-IP-B) in Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey for technical information from foreign vendors that are capable of providing two-radius of curvature ceramic tiles that may be used in producing a SAPI end item. The vendor must be able to produce the curvature equivalent to SAPI configuration for various sizes. Alternate material/end item sources may be investigated under a Foreign Comparative Test program. The finished SAPI items are required to weigh not more that 5.1 lb/ft2 and provide a specified level of ballistic protection. Ceramic thickness may vary from 0.100-inch to 0.300-inch. Information is being sought from vendors who have the capability to produce ceramic materials t o include boron carbide and silicon carbide. Vendors who have a finished end item are also encouraged to provide information. Vendors who feel they have the capabilities to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate document ation, literature, brochures, and references, in writing preferably. It should be noted that this is a market survey and not a pre-solicitation notice. Nothing shall be construed herein or through the market survey process to commit or obligate the U.S. Government to further action as a result of this market survey. Fi rms responding to this market survey shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information submitted in response to this request shall become the property of the U.S. Government and will not be retu rned to the submitter. Respondents must submit their product brochures, technical data, or other information concerning performance and cost by COB on 31 May 2004.
