Description
This Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Air Force is to solicit information only, from potential sources of industry on the solicitation approach that will aid in formulating a best value approach to meet the following requirement. Information obtained as a result of this posting may be used in the development of the Statement of Work for a solicitation. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and the Government?s use of such information. Respondents of this RFI may be requested to provide additional information/details based on their initial submittals. The Air Force is formulating requirements to help determine the feasibility of converting the Air Force Maintenance Systems currently implemented in some version of PowerBuilder into a Global Combat Support System - Air Force (GCSS-AF)Level 4 compliant application; the availability of commercial tools and services to perform such a conversion; and the return on investment (ROI) of such a conversion. The Air Force is seeking different platforms, manufacturers? equipment, and service and maintenance options. Responses should include: 1) Product literature that addresses the above characteristics and any other important technical aspect; 2) Price list or schedule for license and maintenance fees for all platforms supported; 3) Standard software license agreement; 4) The name and telephone number of a point of contact having authority and knowledge to discuss responses with Government representatives. All information contained in this RFI is preliminary and subject to modification and is in no way binding on the Government. The attached information package consists of: 1) System Information; and 2) Questions/Information To Be Addressed In Response To RFI. Questions or clarification concerning the information package should be forwarded in writing, via e-mail, to the Contracting Officer at Martin.Trent@wpafb.af.mil. Responses to this RFI are to be submitted and addressed to Mr. Martin R. Trent at the above e-mail address no later than 11 June 2004. All correspondence concerning this RFI should refer to "DMSI RFI".
