Description
The Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service is seeking qualified Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, 8(a) and/or Native American Enterprise contractors to construct the New Cereal Crops Research Unit in Madison, Wisconsin. PROJECT SUMMARY: The New Cereal Crops Research Unit will be a 34,000 square foot one-story metal, brick and glass structure with a center courtyard. The building will contain administrative, research offices, laboratories (research labs, quality analysis labs, greenhouse) and building support spaces. The project includes demolition of two laboratory buildings - a one-story masonry structure with a basement totaling approximately 25,000 square feet and a three-story masonry structure with a basement totaling approximately 19,000 square feet. Asbestos and lead paint removal are required in both structures to be demolished. The re-developed 3-acre site will consist of the new laboratory building and adjacent single isle 33 space parking lot. Site work includes grading and all utilities. The magnitude of construction estimated price range is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The NAICS code is 236220, with a size standard of $28.5 million. Qualified contractors that are interested in participating in the upcoming solicitation must provide their qualifications statement to the Contracting Officer. This statement shall include the following: 1) geographical location(s) of major and satellite offices, 2) business size (large or small) and type (8(a) concerns, Native American Enterprise, HUBZone, small disadvantaged business, woman-owned, or service-disabled veteran-owned, veterans of the Vietnam era, and other eligible veterans), 3) identify Small Business Administration Certification(s), 4) demonstrate experience with contracts of similar size and scope to this project, 5) demonstrate financial capabilities, and 6) demonstrate sufficient bonding capacity. No solicitation exists at this time. This request is intended only to identify sources. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this sources sought announcement or to otherwise pay for the information requested. The deadline to respond to this notice is June 1, 2004. Interested firms are instructed to send one copy of their qualifications statement to Janice Speth, Contracting Officer, USDA, ARS, FD, Facilities Contracts Branch, 5601 Sunnyside Avenue, Mail Stop 5124, Beltsville, MD 20705-5124.
