Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for technical support to provide research, development, and operations in computer and computational science related to high-end computing for applications to the Advance Supercomputing (NAS) Division. NASA/ARC intends to sole source a two-year follow-on contract to Advanced Management Technology Incorporated (AMTI), 1515 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia, under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source. The two year follow-on contract will ensure continuity of operations during critical elements of High End Computing (HEC) capabilities being developed to enable NASA to plan and execute its new space exploration vision, the Next Generation Launch Technology (NGLT), conduct research and simulation support in of the Agency?s ?Return To Flight? plans, and continue contributing to critical elements of STS-107 investigation and future Shuttle safety evaluation and analysis. In addition, the sole source contract from April 2005 through March 2007 will enable the NAS Division to perform effectively on the start-up phase and initial milestones of its core new programs and initiatives. Longer-term requirements of these programs are not fully known with clarity and detail at this time. A more comprehensive and accurate Statement of Work for a recompete process to start in mid-2005 can be developed more effectively. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Notes 22 and 26. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
