- The Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program (EGRP) Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is soliciting capability statements from Small Business Firms under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 519190, with a size standard of $6.0M per annum. Based on the responses received from this SOURCES SOUGHT announcement, the proposed acquisition may be solicited as a100% Small Business Set-Aside. THIS IS NOT A RFP AND DOES NOT COMMIT THE NIH, NCI TO AWARD A CONTRACT NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. NO RFP PACKAGE IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. All Small Business firms responding to this Sources Sought Announcement must have the capabilities to provide support services to the EGR Program. These services will provide an Informatics Support Center (ISC) for a highly complex and geographically dispersed initiative, the Breast and Colon Cancer Family Registries (BC-CFRs), involving more then 20 institutions and including twelve awarded sites in US, Canada and Australia. As recommended by a panel of experts convened by NCI, the ISC will require cutting edge interdisciplinary expertise over a wide range of scientific fields, including bioinformatics, genetic and molecular epidemiology, familial registries processes and procedures, pathology, virtual biospecimen repositories and biospecimen tracking, as well as an understanding of the current issues in cancer research. In addition, competence in epidemiologic study design and analysis as pertaining to large consortia and infrastructures will be needed. The Small Business will need to demonstrate capability to interact at the professional level with an highly sophisticated and interdisciplinary group of scientists of international background, and understanding of the research issues at the forefront of genetic epidemiology. The respondent will need to demonstrate competence in state of the art bioinformatics systems supporting the collection, management of extremely large, complex and interactive datasets. Also, of particularly importance are confidentiality procedures. Information furnished must not exceed 10 pages and should include an outline of previous similar projects and other available literature for the NIH to perform a proper evaluation of your capability statement.
