Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to the University of California Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The object of this requirement is for lease of the use of a Cameca IMS-1270 Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer to perform analytical service (Chemical and Isotopic Analysis) of NIST test samples. UCLA is the only source for this lease as they and NIST have the only operational IMS-1270 spectrometers that are operational during the period of time needed. NIST's spectrometer has been disassembled in order to relocate it to another location at NIST. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about ten (10) days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to this requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. For information, call the POC identified below.
