Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR VACUUM BOX FOR THE NEXT GENERATION LAUNCH TECHNOLOGY. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to extend the response date for proposals to 4:30 pm CDT on May 10, 2004 and to answer a question posed by an interested party. QUESTION 1, AMENDMENT 3. Is it the intent of the government to require this door seal to be cryogenic as the solicitation implies. The cost difference for this seal is significant and our submitted quote included a metal seal. If the door seal can be elastomeric our bid will be artificially high. What to we do? ANSWER. The door seal is not required to function when exposed to cryogenic temperatures, since this will be the result of failure conditions where cryogenic leakage occurs inside the box. However, some of the flange seals are required to function at cryogenic temperatures, since cryogenic fluids will pass through the feed-throughs. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to May 10, 2004. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on April 12, 2004. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
