- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center ? Panama City, Florida intends to award a sole source contract to DY4 Systems, 333 Palladium Dr, Kanta, Ontario K2V 1A6 for the procurement of 8 Graphics Display Controllers with Dual RGB Outputs (SVME-783-052) and 8 Graphics Display Controllers with Single RGB Outputs (SVME-783-053). This acquisition is sole source for the following reasons: The Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) vehicle was first delivered in 1984 and had a service life design of 20 years. Currently the U.S. Navy has a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for the LCAC. Under SLEP, the LCAC will enter the 21st century with markedly improved performance and an increased life span. The Graphic Display Controllers (GDC) are specifically designed by DY4 Systems and are the only GDCs that are 100% compatible with the existing LCAC SLEP equipment. Use of any other company?s graphics dis play controllers may introduce new, or change existing, parameters that could do more harm than good the the LCAC system. Failure of the LCAC system could result in a loss of life as well as significant damage and maybe even loss of Fleet assets. DY4 Systems is the only known source of these GDCs.
