Description
The United States Army Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) is planning the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the acquisition of Mini Eye-safe Laser Infrared Observation Set (MELIOS) components; the government intends to procure the M ELIOS components through a sole source acquisition to Northrop Grumman in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1. The United States Government does not possess the data rights for a competitive acquisition for the aforementioned MELIOS components. This acquisition will be for the following three different prime components of the MELIOS. NSN 5860-01-324-8206, an optics module, determines and displays in the eyepiece the distance to a target from a required minimum of 50 meters t o a maximum 9995 meters, in a 5 meter increment, by using laser start pulse and the reflected stop pulse; NSN 5860-01-324-2791, a laser module, consists of a flash lamp, laser rod, q-switch assembly, and partial mirror assembly to produce an output beam fr om the stored energy in a capacitor; NSN 5860-01-324-2790, an electronics module, consists of several modules/switches. The U.S. government intends on purchasing 300 units of the optics module with NSN 5860-01-324-8206, 200 units of the laser module with NSN 5860-01-324-2791, and 400 units of the electronics module with NSN 5860-01-324-2790. Firm fixed price is the anticipated contract type for the acquisition of the aforementioned three parts. The U. S.
