- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis a contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Ascend Instruments, LLC, 2056 NW Allclek Drive #323, Hillsboro, OR 97124 for a nanomanipulator system for an electron microscope. The following specifications must be met: 1. The manipulator exterior dimensions must be less than 25.4 mm width x 25.4 mm height x 63.5 mm length; operating range of 100 cubic cm; 2. Operating range of 100 cubic cm; 3. Resolution of better than 1 nm; 4. Vibration stability better than 0.1 nm; 5. Vacuum compatible to 1 x 10-8 Torr; 6. Weight of less than 50 g; 7. Operation velocity control, a. greater than 1 cm/s, b. less than 5 nm/s; 8. Controller and manipulator must be compatible with Kleindiek MM3A controller for compatibility with existing equipment; 9. Manipulator probe mount must be compatible with Kleindiek MM3A (multiple probes are interchanged in experiments); 10. Controller must be capable of analog hand knob control, joypad control, and computer control; 11. Proven results with all the above requirements.***This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (Under $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information purposes only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Questions should be submitted in writing to the contracting officer either by fax or email.
