Description
The US Army CECEOM Acquisition Center-Washington intends to award a sole source purchase order to University of Maryland-College Park Center for Environmental Energy Engineering, of College Park, MD in order to conduct a series of tests to evaluate t he performance of the latest generation prototype 3-ton capacity, rotary hermetic, carbon dioxide air conditioning compressor. All capacity testing shall be performed using ASHRAE 37 based methodology. This will require the enclosure of the ECU sections into separate indoor and outdoor ducts or rooms. The indoor and outdoor inlet and outlet conditions (wet bulb and dry bulb temperature) will be measured to allow the determination of air enthalpies. Indoor and outdoor airflows will be measured using cali brated nozzles and pressure sensors having a combined error of +/- 1.0% of the reading or better. Airflow and temperature data shall in turn be used to calculate the ECU resultant capacity. All other pertinent data shall be measured including refrigerant temperatures and pressures at various points in the thermodynamic cycle. In addition, the oil circulation rate shall be determined using methods given in ASHRAE standard 41.4-1996. The resultant contract will be firm fixed price. To be eligible for awa rd, registration in the Centralized Contractor Registration database is mandatory.
