Description
The Direct Attack Systems Program Office, Air Armament Center (AAC), Eglin AFB, Florida is issuing a sources sought synopsis for a source capable of producing a hard target penetrator fuze. The program office is contemplating the use of the foreign comparative test (FCT) program to test existing fuzes. This fuze should be a non-developmental item (NDI) that will meet USAF requirements with no physical configuration changes. The Hard Target Fuze is to fill a current requirement for a fuze that is capable of surviving impact penetration shock loads seen in Air Force penetrator weapons. The fuze shall be compatible with the US standard three-inch fuze well. The fuze shall exhibit high reliability and be capable of providing a safe and arm functionality as defined by United States Air Force system safety requirements (MIL-STD-1316E). The fuze shall be capable of counting layers and voids and initiating a penetrator warhead at a specified depth of burial or specified distance within a void or layer with no hardware modification; some software modification may be required. The fuze shall also have a back-up timer mode which shall be programmable to function at a specified amount of time after impact, dependent upon mission parameters. Time delay shall be programmable in 1mS increments from 0 to 255mS as a minimum. The fuze must have successfully completed qualification testing, or be currently funded and scheduled for completion of qualification testing. THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION REQUESTED. THE GOVERNMENT IMPLIES NO INTENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION OR ULTIMATELY AWARD A CONTRACT AS A RESULT OF THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to this synopsis or the Government?s use of submitted information.
