Description
The U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC has a requirement for an initial quantity of up to six thousand (6,000) M249 Accessory Rail Assembly kits to be procured in FY04. Additionally, there may be two subsequent IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity) ordering periods with a potential of either 4,000 ? 8,000 or 8,001 ? 12,000 kits per ordering period. The Accessory Rail Assembly Kit will attach to the front part of the M249 Machine Gun and provide three (3) MIL-STD 1913 rail surfaces for mounting various optical devices and accessories. The item is envisioned to be numerically controlled machine fabricated from 7075-T73 or 7075-T7351 Aluminum Alloy per specification ASTM B221 or B211. The Aluminum parts must be black hard anodized per MIL-A-8625, Type 111, Class 2 to a lusterless, black finish. There are no cast parts and none are desired. No deviations to the drawing materials, treatment, or finish will be permitted. The three rail surface profiles are required to be made in accordance with MIL- STD-1913. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with USG drawings, inspect them in accordance with USG Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with USG Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 500 Kits per month with possible increase to as much as 1,000 Kits per month. There shall be a First Article Test quantity of five (5) items that must be passed prior to approval for full production. This procurement will be 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The Government is unaware of the existence of any Commercial or Non-Developmental Items to meet the Government?s requirements. See Notes 1 and 26.
